Having seen that the inward witness is a reaction from the spirit within or an inward impression or witness of the spirit of the believer, which either endorsers or refutes facts exposed to it, it’s important to consequently understand How to receive or recognize the inward witness.
How does the Spirit of man bears witness with (agrees with) or refutes facts exposed to it?
Now recall that the mind is where we recognize or receive God’s guidance and leadings. Therefore, these reactions or impressions will be expressed through or in the mind of the believer. Since the mind is where we have emotions, then the Spirit bearing witness with it refuting facts exposed to it will be via emotions. This implies that the inward witness can also be understood as emotional expressions from within the believer’s spirit in agreement or disagreement to facts exposed to it, received in the mind.
Emotions definitely are reactions, which are based on impulses gotten from information that we receive on a regular basis via the senses m, that is from things we see (watch), Hear, touch, taste, smell, which eventually inform out thoughts/perceptions, words and actions. These emotions can be seen in joy, anger, sadness, excitement and much more.
The following are examples in the scriptures
a) The Synoptic (Four) Gospels - Jesus
Luke 10:21 “In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the spirit...”
The word “rejoiced” was translated from the Greek word “agalliao”; it implies to leap for joy, to run or twirl around in reckless abandon.
Luke (the author) recorded in context why Jesus expressed such emotions in/from His Spirit.
Luke 10:17 “And the seventh returned again with joy, saying, Lord even the devils are subject unto us through thy name...”
Hence the expression of joy from His spirit (which was demonstrated physically) was a result of the information received from his disciples and also what he said to them, from the scriptures.
John 11:33
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled,
In the above instance, when he saw Mary and the Jews weeping, Jesus groaned in the Spirit and was troubled from within, which was demonstrated via tears.
Luke 19:41 He wept over Jerusalem because they did not know the time of their visitation, referring to his rejection by the Jews. John wrote about this in his synoptic Gospel. John 1:11
After that experience in Luke 19:41, Luke recorded how Jesus again expressed emotions from within/in the spirit. Luke 19:45 “And he went into the temple and began to cast them out that sold and then that bought...”
Observe John’s Account of the same event. John 2:14-17 “...the zeal of thine house has eaten me up”
In other words, He was compelled from within to do what he did, it was the zeal or compassion expressed from His spirit, that compelled him to drive those who sold oxen and exchange monies out of the temple.
Hence, the joy, tears, zeal are the Spirit’s emotions expressed when facts were exposed to Him. The tears over Jerusalem and zeal that compelled him to drive out those who sold goods and exchanged monies from the temple will be a reaction or expressions in/from the Spirit to a negative situation or information, while rejoicing will be a reaction or expressions in/from the Spirit to positive situation or information
The impressions of God’s are clear inmy spirit. Therefore I pay attention to his leading and I walk accurately in God’s will and plan for my life.
